Rick holds a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Alberta in classical woodwind doubling.

Rick also attended the world-renowned University of North Texas on a clarinet scholarship where he received a Masters Degree in Jazz Studies with a related classical field in flute performance.

Following his undergraduate degree, Rick was invited to join the "Saskatoon Saxophone Quartet", which was one of Canada's finest classical saxophone ensembles.    He also performed regularly with the "Saskatoon Symphony Orchestra" and fronted the "Rick Harris Jazz Quartet" all of which were frequently recorded by the CBC.

During his eight years in Saskatoon Rick operated a successful teaching studio with a combined annual average of fifty flute, clarinet and saxophone students per week.   He also regularly taught clinics across the province.

In 2004 Rick finished five years with "Princess Cruises" filling the woodwind chair in the Princess Orchestra. He then returned to his home in Regina to establish the "Rick Harris Music studio".
